| June 2, 2005 Dear Parents and youth, At our meeting on Wednesday, June 1, seventeen adults and one student met to brainstorm about what we would like to have our children experience in their faith journey while in the middle/high school programs at Third Church. The responses that came from this group are categorized as follows: ________ Faith Instruction Small groups/Bible study Spiritual growth Trusted listeners/mentors Integrated programming among: Youth groups Sunday school Worship Youth group choir Biblical literacy Hearing faith stories of others (adults included) ________ Sense of Community A place to belong Students know they are wanted Close-knit peer group Off-site church activities Youth activities with other churches ________ Connecting the gospel in a relevant way/Outreach Ensuring that programming is presented in a way that connects to youth Creating opportunities for all people to understand the gospel Students (including upper-el) take ownership for service projects ________ Increased youth participation/responsibility Involvement in worship Mutual teaching opportunities (Youth teaching adults ie: Adult Ed; Youth teaching children) More interactions between youth and younger children Contribution of gifts and talents Please prioritize your preferences by RANK ORDERing the above categories (with 1 as highest priority).
