Children and Families

The church has made a major commitment to emphasize children, youth, and young families.  In the past couple of years the youth groups for middle school and high school have grown in size and have had major summer service learning trips or retreats.  The church has hosted dynamic and creative Vacation Bible Schools with a Backyard Bash the preceeding week utilizing a theme that is engaging for children. Following Vacation Bible School the creative, colorful, and elaborate decorations grace the lower level educational level.  We as a congregation seek to develop “a hall of fame reputation” as a highly effective congregation for developing children, youth, and families as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Wednesday TASC Midweek program resumes on Wednesday, January 11th at 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

During Morning Worship

Nursery: Offered for infants through age 3 during Sunday morning worship services and classes.  Staffed by Susie VanderKolk and Andy Zoerman along with caring volunteers.

Children and Worship:  Children ages 4 through second grade participate in the start of the sanctuary worship service, then leave to experience worship at their own level.  The program offers singing, Bible story, response to God’s word and prayer in a way that makes worship accessible.  This program is offered throughout the year.

Young Disciples:  For children third grade and up, this is a transitional worship opportunity that bridges the gap between Children and Worship and sanctuary worship.  Young Disciples meets twice a month (during the 8:30 a.m. Worship in the winter and spring semester) beginning on January 8th.  Upcoming dates are January 22nd, February 5th and 19th, and March 4 and 18th.  Participants attend sanctuary worship during alternate weeks.

Wednesday Night Midweek Program

Third’s After Supper Club, 5:45-7:45 PM

TASC Elementary Youth (Kindergarten through Fifth Grade) Following Family dinner, children are dismissed to the large group activity room for creative dramas and singing, followed by a craft, games, and various activities.  The year is organized around a series of six week units.  We also include service projects and field trips twice a year.
